With activity based cost methods, the system permits and facilitates analysis of the real cost of returns processing in a multitude of approaches i.e. by model, customer, employees, etc.  The system can be useful in identifying cost of each element in a return policy.  Forecasting cost could be used to determine the effect of future return policy changes.
